The Long Island Museum Turns 80!

The Long Island Museum (LIM) is turning 80 this year and the celebration kicks off on June 28th from 6 to 9 p.m. at an event at the Hawkins-Mount House located in Stony Brook.  The Mount House Summer Soiréwill be an Americana-themed party featuring signature cocktails, dinner, live music and tours of this iconic Stony Brook landmark. Guests are invited to wear their summer whites (or reds or blues).
“The Mount House has been closed from the general public for three decades!  This is such an exciting opportunity to be the first group of museum supporters through the door.  We are thrilled with this new enhancement to the museum’s programming,” stated LIM’s Executive Director, Neil Watson.

The Long Island Museum’s 80th anniversary event series continues on July 18th with Puttin’ on the Ritz, featuring dinner in the Carriage museum and an outdoor concert with Tom Manuel and the Jazz Loft All Stars. The final event in the series is Behind the Runway, featuring dinner in the Cowles Gallery, a discussion by a noted fashion historian and guided tours of the Mary & Philip Hulitar Textile Collection. Reservations for each event are $150 per person; $250 per couple. Guests may purchase tickets for all three events for $400 per person; $700 per couple.
