The Bristal Assisted Living and the Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center to hold Virtual Flower Pot Planting Program for Seniors Across Long Island

The Bristal Assisted Living communities and the Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center will host a crafting program via Zoom open to all Long Island Seniors and their caregivers from 1:00 – 2:00PM on Wednesday July 1st and Wednesday July 8th. This two-part class is intended for older adults and individuals with dementia or memory-related cognitive disorders to participate along with their family members and/or caregivers.

The free program will be led by the Director of Recreation from The Bristal at North Hills, Casey Drum. She explains, “The Bristal is very excited to showcase how we are using technology to support the senior population with creative arts programming for our residents, as well as seniors in the community during times like these.” Julie Wexler, Director of Business Development for The Bristal recognizes that today’s caregivers face many challenges, including isolation. “With over 20 years of experience caring for seniors, The Bristal understands the unique burdens caregivers face. These programs offer a chance for caregivers to connect with others, while offering their loved ones an engaging activity.”

We will guide participants through this fun craft and planting project. All the supplies needed for the project will be delivered or mailed to participant’s homes a few days before the first session. The Zoom class will be recorded so participants can take part according to their own schedule.
