Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve: Schedule Of Events

Caumsett State Historic Park in Lloyd’s Neck, Huntington offers the following interpretative programs in the fall of 2023. These programs are geared for the average adult. There will be a fee of $4.00 per adult. An $8.00 parking fee must be paid during the fee collection season. To register, please call (631) 423 – 1770 between 8:00 – 4:30 pm. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please call and cancel so others may have the opportunity to attend. Please be prompt. If others are waiting, your place may be given to them if you have not arrived when the program starts. Outdoor programs will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately.

Seashore Circular: (Adult Program)
Sunday                      October 15th                                     9:45am ~ 1:00pm
During this hilly, moderately paced walk, we will walk through fields and woods on our way to leisurely explore Caumsett’s shore. We’ll discuss geological and social factors that have influenced nature on Long Island. Since we will walk approximately 4.5 miles, we suggest you bring drinking water. Possibility of long grass.

Fall Seasonal Stroll: (Adult Program)
Saturday                    October 28th                         11:00am ~ 1:00pm
On this short stroll (approx. 1.5 miles), one of a series designed to observe seasonal changes, we’ll savor autumn’s colorful, leafy splendor. (Some sitting on grass and possibility of long grass).

Introduction to Wilderness Survival: (Adult Program)
Sunday                      November 12th                      10:45am ~ 1:00pm
You can survive on your own at Caumsett. In this hands-on program, geared for the average adult, we’ll teach you how to find food, start a fire, and build a shelter. Approximately 1 mile. For reasons of safety, no children under 18 will be permitted. There will be some sitting on grass, with the possibility of long grass.

Just a Hike: (Adult Program)
Saturday                    November 25th                      9:45am ~ 12:45pm
While questions are most welcome there will be no formal discussion during this 6-mile, hilly, moderately paced walk thus affording walkers the opportunity to relax, socialize, and enjoy the park’s beauty. Bring drinking water. Possibility of long grass.

History of Caumsett: (Adult Program)
Sunday                      December 10th                     11:00am ~ 1:00pm
On this hilly, moderately long walk (approximately 2 miles), we will study the park’s social, economic, architectural, and political history. Possibility of long grass.

History Hike: (Adult Program)
Saturday                    December 23rd                     9:45am ~ 12:45pm
While the main purpose of this hilly, moderately paced 6-mile walk is to relax and socialize, we will make stops to discuss some spots of historic interest. Possibility of long grass.
