A Message from Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine

I hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy. As we continue to practice social distancing to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, I wanted to share some information with you regarding the local spread of this virus, Brookhaven Town operations and resources you and your family may be able to use. Much of this information, and more, is available on our website at BrookhavenNY.gov, on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter @BrookhavenTown. You can also Sign up for Brookhaven email and/or text message notifications pertaining to Coronavirus and Town emergencies.

The most important thing we can do as a community is to continue to shelter in place, practice social distancing and regularly wash our hands to prevent the spread of this virus. Governor Cuomo has already cited this as the reason why the trajectory of new cases seems to be slowing from earlier projections. If we all do our part, we can prevent its spread. Unless a trip is absolutely necessary, please stay home.

In addition, please be aware of an increase in online fraud schemes related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The FBI warns of fake CDC emails as well as “phishing” emails that ask people to verify personal information to receive economic stimulus checks, receive refund checks, fake testing kits, cures or vaccines, receive financial relief or make charitable contributions. Please see the FBI warning posted on our website.

Brookhaven Town continues to operate, with a number of modifications put in place to ensure the health and safety of our residents and staff. Most departments are operating by email, phone conferences and through drop-off facilities located in our lobby. Our contact center continues to operate Monday-Friday from 9am – 4:30 pm to answer any questions you may have at 631-451-TOWN.

Brookhaven workers are continuing to assist our seniors and most vulnerable population during this crisis, delivering meals to homebound seniors and partnering with non-profit agencies to deliver food and other necessary items.

I hope you find the below information useful, and that your family remains safe and healthy.

Sincerely
Edward P. Romaine
